Request an Appointment in Our Reading Room

We are pleased to be able to welcome researchers from the Cornell community to the Rare and Manuscript Division (RMC) reading room beginning January 19, 2021. Please note that only current Cornell students, faculty, and staff who have been approved to be on campus may make appointments.  We regret we are not able to welcome visitors from outside Cornell to the reading room at this time.

We offer appointments Monday-Friday, in two-hour blocks from 10:00-12:00 and from 1:00-3:00.

Please note that we are still operating with limited staff onsite. Therefore we ask that requests be made five business days in advance, to allow adequate time to retrieve requested materials for each researcher.

To request an appointment, please email us and include the following information:

  • Your Cornell status: student, faculty member, or staff member
  • Your first and second choice of date and time
  • What collections you would like to use

A staff member from RMC will contact you once your request has been received to set up a consultation to discuss your project.  Appointments can only be confirmed once the consultation takes place.

Please note that in following guidelines from Cornell’s Environment Health & Safety we can only offer a limited amount of seating.
